Dangerous and shortsighted, unless you are not concerned about increasing illegal immigration and introducing more criminal activity. The visa schemes of old did not stop tourist in 2019. Simply revert back to pre-covid visa rules and just do PCR testing on departure and antigen testing on arrival (end the quarantine schemes)

Criminals will get in no matter what, so what are you going on about? The Chinese are perfect examples of crime coming in. 30 days upon arrival and then an easy extension for another 30 days at immigration would be a good thing.

What is a visa waiver ? There is already a visa on arrival which basically means you don't need a visa to visit Thailand.

I guess, you dont mean 'visa on arrival', 'cause that is still a visa, you have to get on arrival, have to pay for it and just after you can go to the immigration. But you get/got longer stays as 30 days

You probably mean the excempt entry, just get the 30 day stamp on arrival, which was/is a visafree entry,

You seem to be under the impression that a country's interest in issuing and tracking visas is simply for tourism sake. That's not true. They have visa schemes/programs to manage overall immigration and vet potential criminals. Nothing is 100% perfect as it pertains to crime. But Visas serve a purpose to at least mitigate easy criminal movements

Don't follow that logic at all. Criminals will avoid detection no matter what.
