A man in Bangkok has been charged with the brutal murder of his mother after she was found stabbed and with plastic bags wrapped tight around her head and neck. Would that "stress" be drug related?

There is a possibility of stress drug reaction, most of the drugs used in Thailand have adverse side effects.

This drugs silence the person when active, however when the drug ends up the reactions on human are very adverse.

If the investigators go thro the chain of reactions of the engineer who killed his own mother, they will have slightest update to indicate it is drug related case.
