I would go further down to Rawai. Just friendly advice. It's more vivid alive and especially if your not bothered with Gogo's and girlies this might be a place for some decent entertainment.

In Patong just now, almost everything is open. Bangla is very busy at nights, otop not quite as busy.

Stayed in Rawai last year as it goes. Villa was okay, good value, but found it a bit boring as an area, not a swimming beach either.

I lived there for 4 years approximately before moving to other part of Thailand.
Rawai is pretty good and decent, the beach road has entertainment for everyone in my opinion from Sunshine bar up-to-you Freedom bar and everything in between.
