In the wake of a turbulent Donald Trump administration where conspiracy theories were promoted and authoritarian leadership style admired, President Joe Biden is reestablishing its commitments to democracy by holding a summit to defend it. Joe Biden doesn't deliver much and then it's a disaster. Can anyone trust him after Afghanistan withdrawal?

If there was ever a time for democracies to stand together, it's now. Sadly, due to the pandemic, I don't think I can ever remember a time when democracies have acted more like authoritarian regimes than now. Bans and restrictions on every facet of life, vaccination mandates and edicts; following the medical advice of course. While I think this summit will turn quickly into a talkfest, I hope at least it will be a sign of solidarity among democratic countries.
