Today, the CCSA reported 4,704 new Covid-19 infections, down 1,192 since yesterday, and 27 Coronavirus-related deaths, down 10 from yesterday. Since April 1, in the latest wave of the virus in Thailand, a total of 2,112,368 confirmed Covid-19 infections have been reported. In the 24 hour period since the last count, the CCSA has reported 6,149 recoveries, up 483 from yesterday. There are now 71,482 people currently receiving treatment for Covid-19, down 1,472 from yesterday, including 1,263 in the ICU and 328 on ventilators. I am delighted to see that after the fears I mentioned last week, about drink being a factor in the sudden upsurge in Phuket, and my thoughts that Jan 15 would not see a lifting of the alcohol ban, numbers there are back on a downward trend. 

Note to Thaiger staff: The format used to report these figures today and yesterday are by the far the most helpful for those who are watching trends. For myself, I follow the trends as a guidance to when it will probably be safe for me to book a holiday with the least risk of it being disrupted. I can't speak for others as to what format they would prefer, or why, or even if they have a preference, but I would be grateful if (a) the format for reporting these figures was consistent, and (b), preferably in this format.
