I think when this PM and his cronies talk about the digital economy what they only think of is a digital crypto currency, the worlds choice for crooks, scammers and those that wish to defraud the nation.

Translation:

He's bought a 50 baht calculator from his boss...😂😂

I also was thinking about what is he talking their buerocracy and offices still everything is with tons of papers and stamps like in the 30s 40s and 50s in the last century was common. Maybe start there to develop it first on a standard from the 80s and 90s then we will talk about digitalization.

Digitizing an existing paper based system and workflow is an incredibly big money pit in a first world country. It’s not just more computers and some software. It’s all about the people designing, implementing and using these systems. The Thai government struggles to get comparatively simple websites and piecemeal digital systems up and running 24x7. Unless this, and future, governments budget for very large expenses to recruit and keep the right people it is not going to happen anytime in the next 10 years. This is where having a “learn by rote” education system and a lack of focus on critical thinking really shows it’s shortcomings. I wish Thailand the best of luck with this, with their current underpaid public service they are going to need it.

..and stressed how the Covid-19 pandemic encouraged transitioning to more reliance on digital technology for the safety of people in the new normal of life with Covid-19.

Safety of people...not to be mixed up with full control of people.
