Recommended Posts

Phuket is approved to allow New Year’s Eve celebrations to go on all night, along with alcohol sales. The notice was issued yesterday that states alcohol sales would be extended on NYE, from 11pm-6am. The order says usually it is forbidden to sell alcohol during those times, but notes that December 31 is an exception. The Phuket governor signed the order on Saturday, but it was only posted officially early this morning. The order was meant to serve as another extension of the standing order that regulates which venues, establishments, and services could open and which ones had to remain […]

i wonder if the governor can be overridden by the federal government?? I can just imagine the police raiding premises after 9pm...... When asked why the raid, the police say the governor meant midnight....Australian time...sorry🤣🤣🤣🤣

guess the much hyped  Bochelli event will have to make do with a few triangles and a gazoo if he can only have 5 musicians !

But he could always turn a blind eye to those requirements!

I wonder if there fortune teller has given them some news to look forward to after there New Years celebration John.

Phuket is one of the very few locations where alcohol is (reasonably) freely available. No stats were made available yesterday regarding provincial infections. However up to Saturday, there were seven consecutive days of rising figures soon after the bars on Bangla Rd reopened.

They had been declining for a few weeks before that event as was the general trend in TH and indeed, Asia which is still pretty much locked-down. In Europe, where many countries have reopened bars, the rates are out of control. I think anyone predicting that under the present circumstances, this may not end well does not have to rocket surgeon. Mixed metaphor intentional. I would add, that I would be delighted to be wrong on this.

good example of seeing corruption never stops in Thailand, someone benefits from this, Chonburi infections 147 Phuket 133 not much difference every day and Phuket can do everything and Chonburi can look at their closed doors... This kind of decision making in Thailand is BULLSHIT... and they expect we should respect these clowns, for me they are disgusting, corrupt and plain stupid people with no brain. Just disgusting day in day out... and it is getting worse... PURE CORRUPTION <-- REAL NEWS

Anyone older than 50 who still parties all night on New Years is either a serious alcoholic or cannot find a girl who wants to be with him i.e. cheap $ versus $$$.  Personally I am an alcoholic, but not a serious one 555

Anyone under 50 should be working the next day and not stay up.  Hahaha

I mean really, by the time I was 32 I had partied on New Years enough times to last a lifetime.

So you are only talking about kids 18-32, who will party whether there are alcohol sales or not since they are free from money worries because of trust funds or inheritances

Also there is the risk of death from contracting Covid-19, forgot about that . 🤪  Crazy

Nice to know the "governor" of Phuket has power over the PM and CCSA

Peace and Love

Must be hard to take for Issan People and Bar owners who have closed there bars for many Month's and seeing there Christmas and New Years Celebrations wiped out.

Apart from reindeer hats in Lotus, Christmas isn't that widely celebrated in Issan 😄

Partying tends to be localised, except in the cities.

I don't know about TH, but in most countries, Jan 1st is a holiday.

Yes a "holiday" for many jobs, yet many businesses operate 365 days a year.

There are the bars, restaurants, and hotels operating on Jan. 1 who employ many people.  Football and basketball teams in the U.S. play on Jan 1.  My friend works for a huge food kitchen making food for the concession stands at sporting events and other events at the arenas in Seattle, he will be working.

Grocery stores, airlines, and all Las Vegas casinos (164,000 employees right there) are operating to think of a few more.

Quite a few times, as Udon's next door like Khon Kaen.

They know how to party here in Loei too, but I think Sek Loso and Carabao are usually booked in the cities, though 😂!
