A new survey is revealing that a majority of respondents oppose legalising pornography in Thailand. The National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll, conducted the survey over the phone between November 22nd and the 24th. The 18 years of age and older respondents with varying levels of education and occupations seemed to point towards a vast majority of Thais opposing such hedonistic entertainment outlets, including the production of pornography videos. This sort of survey sets off big alarms to me.

I'd assume NIDA made the contact so there is a record of your phone number somewhere, ID of some sort is attached to that sim number.

I'd be very careful what I said as you never know who else is listening.

Not worried, lets say NIDA ring up and ask questions about this bloke in Europe, what do you say, tell the truth or do a Thai and lie your head off.

I can’t believe the poll because if it’s one thing that Thais like, it’s free stuff and much of porn is free. Though I would understand if the pollster sounded like an old grandma type like a village elder. Wouldn’t want to admit to any wrong in front of them

Hey guys I understand the light heartiness about the porn business. I also understand the sexual influence in Thailand especially for the foreign visitors and expats there but there are the ugliness of the porn industry you fail to understand. There are criminality of it involving drugs, assault, rape, force labor of underage girls, etc. There are plenty of porn out there in the world. This may not be a pandora box Thailand wants to open.

This story is a true depiction of the “saving face” culture the country is pathologically obsessed with.

Thais are wonderful Buddhists while in the Temple. Otherwise it is easy to tell they have never studied Buddhism.
