It's one thing to ringfence the countries effected and should be accompanied by donation of vaccines to those countries. Two benefits. We curb it's spread and we find out if the vaccines work against it.

What will they do, if there were a new variant, that causes unusual hard symptoms? Will they nuke themselves?

Seems like Israel has closed down the Country for two weeks whilst the new virus is being investigated to find out more about it . 

  Astute thing to do, really  , rather than waiting for a few days and allowing people from the infected Countries to arrive in your Country

I like the Israelis, they act decisively and take no shit from anyone. Even if you think it’s an over reaction, it’s still clear and swift. 
 

I’ve been to Isreal on 4 occasions all for work reasons. The Israelis have some great telecoms engineers and companies. Always made to feel very welcome and never had any issues whatsoever. Some beautiful looking women as a bonus.

A country with one of the world's highest vaccination rates shuts their borders to a variant that so far, has not been shown to be more dangerous. And within a month, they will have cases anyway.  Just like New Zealand with Delta.

Like them or loath them, they can make a decision for better or worse and stand by it. When I was in our forces,  we used to say, FFS make a decision and stand by it! The Israelis do and you're right, they take zero s..t, for this alone they are to be admired.
