The closest I've ever coming to being aware of anything like that, is reading hotel reviews from people who brought their family and booked a hotel in places like Soi 7/8 or Bukahow. and were outraged to find there were sex-tourists staying in their hotel. I'd put that down to lack of due diligence on their part. 

Something else I noticed in these reviews is that these are usually the same people who complain about the unfriendly attitude of the recep staff. I estimate that I've done well over 50 check-ins in various hotels in various places in TH, and never experienced this. I have a theory that due to both their lack of due diligence, and self awareness, they don't even consider that the recep staff have plenty of experience of body language. Mr and Mrs Malcontent and family have been travelling for the best part of 24 hrs and they are tired and grumpy. The recep staff have seen the signs many times, and they know they are about to get a hard time from these people, and quite frankly, they don't think they are being paid enough to put up with this crap.

I’ve given up reading hotel reviews. A place gets 3 star review and when you look at why some people score it a 1 or 2 star, it’s for things like:

The door to the room was very heavy to open. 
They only had dark blue towels at the pool. 
Everyone at reception had black hair and it made my children cry.

Yes indeed. Opening and throwing off caution with such low rates of vaccination has proven a mistake. Particularly, when you consider it needs eighty percent or better to make it happen. It is the same here in Australia. I don't want to see opening and then a sudden retreat. I would prefer to see a gradual and sustained opening. It's a "silver lining" that we have had Europe and America as a look into the future.

I've said it several times on this forum, TH may really wants to be rid of this, but not until they have found another revenue stream to replace it. And I can envisage a time when they might actually find that stream, and will then question whether they should just give up the old ways, or perhaps keep the money rolling in a bit longer?

I  am wary of Thai Politicians who call for the ending of this business, but never actually take steps to end it. They remind me of the those politicians who secretly believe that many problems might be solved by legalising drugs, but are too scared to say for fear of being labelled "soft on drugs". Populism demands of them that they condemn this. They are like arms dealers who pray for peace, but don't want it until after they have sold all their weapons.

I was in Pattaya when it was a sleepy beach town. Sure there were a few Americans on RandR but relatively few. It was totally different scene. So don't blame Pattaya's ill-fated fame of sleaze on the US.

Heck of a lot smaller, fisherman sat on poles for hours fishing the tide, no speed boats only fishing boats, only a few girls in the not so many bars and cleaner beaches.

Who is blaming the US? Get out of your safety bubble and travel the country. You will see the the domestic ‘sleaze’ industry. Which existed before and is just as rampant now.

Hotel review sites can be equally vacuous.

Regarding the discussion to reopen night life, I have a suspicion that the recent reopening of bars in Phuket may be linked to this and they are waiting to see what difference having girly bars open will make.

My guess is that when the figures are in from Phuket, a decision will be made. The key data will be if there is a disproportionately high number of Farangs infected. If there is no significant difference, that could give re-opening in other places such as Pattaya, the green light.

No. They only specialise in TH, with an occasional venture into other parts of SEA. I am talking about people who really know how to solve the world's problems. That would only include Thaiger members with FB accounts.

Any update on this supposed meeting? There was no mention of possibility in bangkokpost.com or thaipbsworld.com. Would hate to think Thaiger is just making up headlines for views.

In bigger places there is some, but in smaller places they roll up the streets at dark. Working people get up very early in the morning. However the old retired sexpaths sleep in or sleep it off every day.
