tourism in Thailand can rebound at least partially to meet the goal of hitting 50% of the pre-pandemic revenue totals by the end of 2022.

Should do that easily with the thousands of quality tourists coming on their private jets and luxury cruisers.

Because TAT does that - it is their job - fake positive news about tourism 😉

'People' are not going to return to Thailand in a very long time - excluding the Chinese. In 2019 the TAT (massaged) numbers showed that about 60% of international tourists were from China, and that they spent more per day than any other tourists.  That is who the Junta wish to come back - and until they do, they are launching desperate idiotic silly marketing 'campaigns'. While refusing to remove all the bureaucratic khrapp and mandatory quarantines/hospital/hostel stays for anyone testing positive or sitting next to them on plane, in taxi, etc.- either one would ruin a few weeks holiday. That is why the vast majority of 'tourists' coming back from overseas are returning Thais, business people, returning Expats, and Thai family members - only a few desperate and risk taking tourists are coming.

Plus in 2016, tourism from 'western' countries (including Japan and Korea) started to serious decline, as the Junta desperately pushed for the Chinese tourists numbers to be increased - supported by the CCP.  That worked in terms of total numbers and spend, but as everyone in Thailand knows the Chinese dont spend their money directly with the local Thais - they spend big at the Malls (King Power etc.) and the money goes straight to the wealthy (inc hotels, transport operators, restaurants - all mainly Chinese owned).  I saw all that happening, both then in Thailand and many years ago in Australia - but Aust Govt Tourism Authority was honest and called them out - they switched back and also marketed to western people and backpackers.

TAT said 100K coming to Hua Hin by end December - the number to date since Nov 1? 56!!  Junta solution when they get the reality as detailed above? (the tourists are not knocking down the doors and China is locked down til Q3 2022).   Start a PR Marketing campaign about 2022!

Come on Bob, let's all chip in and get TAT a real calculator instead of the government issued version:
