Thailand’s Public Health Ministry is looking at ways to encourage more people to get vaccinated, as the government tries to meet its target by the end of the year. Ministry spokesman Dr Sopon Mekthon says officials have a target to administer 100 million doses by the end of 2021. Currently, they are short around 15 million doses, having administered 85 million to date. Sopon says the government may introduce compulsory measures to improve vaccine take-up. These could include having to be vaccinated to enter certain public spaces. However, nothing has been confirmed yet and Sopon says if this does go […]

Strange. They boasted about 178.2m doses procured for delivery in 2021, plus donations.

How many million doses and what vaccine have they just given to their Junta friends in Myanmar...

Whatever it is they will only be for friends of the murderous Junta....

If they dropped the sinovac I'm pretty sure more will go for vaccination..

On 19 October, the head of the Department of Disease Control stated that Thailand will stop using the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine when the current supply runs out at the end of this month. Dr Opas Karnkawinpong says the government programme will instead switch to using 1 dose of AstraZeneca, followed by 1 of Pfizer.

“We expect to have distributed all Sinovac doses this week.”

After that announcement the Thai government supposedly recieved a donation of 1.5 million doses of Sinovac from China. Maybe they have used them maybe not. Funny how donations from China what nobody wants can come where donated doses of Pfizer and Moderna hit problems...

Just walk into any shopping center in CM. The last day of the vaccination "drive" was 15 November but the signs are still there. The not yet vaccinated could choose between two options: 1 Sinovac and 1 AZ or 1 AZ and 1 Pfizer. So yes, it's still being used.

Additional problem is that CM considers you vaccinated after the first jab, which in the case of Sinovac doesn't give you any protection whatsoever and in the case of AZ not for several weeks and even then not at all enough. And the second jab could come as late as February!

Meanwhile let the virus rip and just 🙊🙉🙈

Yes saw this.. but being only the 1st dose given it will take longer for stocks to be to used up, and as others have just posted here the government has accepted another 1.5 million free sinovac doses! That again is 1.5 million people at 1st dose each.. but government hasn't helped to get the free Moderna from poland first reported as 3 million doses!  then 1 million pfizer from the USA, and now 1 million Moderna from the usa ..

As far as I can recall, only according to one local report in Chiang Rai - no mention in any mainstream news.

Edit: all new vaccinations in Loei only 1  x AZ followed by 1 x Pfizer since a fortnight ago.

Think about it for a moment. Around the world we've been doing this vaccination thing for over a year now. So many countries around the world have been trying every strategy they can think of to ramp up the vaccination distribution, the information about vaccines, countering false information about vaccines and so on. Look to the strategies that others have used that work and employ those methods. Sharing of what works benefits everyone. Trying to do things in isolation from other nations is like reinventing the wheel.

AZ gives you some protection from about 10 days.      It's not quite as good as Pfizer, but way better than nothing which is why UK death rates were falling after so many people had the first dose.

Spacing the jabs out gives you longer lasting protection.

Another problem with AZ is the performance drops off more after 4~6 months.

WADR, that's not my point though.
