Wanted to comment on the East coast becoming a UNESCO protected area. As it was got directed into this forum on reviving tourism in Southern Thailand.

Initial intended content: This is truly wonderful news. The Andaman / East coast is a gem. More and more land becomes occupied and exploited but some places should be left untouched.

Updated content: Rows of beach chairs and piles of rubbish should not become part of the scenery. Revive the tourist numbers but don't destroy the land.

Sometimes the "projects" entail golf courses and amusement parks but its the natural beauty that made it possible for business men and politicians to line their own pockets.

I still like the possibility of UNESCO coming in. Hope it happens for real.
