awesome

The tunnels are well worth a visit, especially if the old lady (Chinese Malay) is giving you the tour. She is still a firm believer and will quote Mao and Lenin to you and is unintentionally hilarious.

The tunnels are a remarkable feat of labour intensive ingenuity and the museum is full of esoteric communist displays including their medical and dental equipment (which will send shivers down your spine)

The skywalk is well worth a visit - especially early in the morning when the mist still covers the jungle.

Food in Betong is good (Chinese is authentic) but hotels leave something to be desired, however they are cheap.

Well worth visiting this part of Thailand as the almost complete lack of tourists gives you a far more authentic experience.
