From tomorrow, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will further ease restrictions on the sale of alcohol, with more restaurants allowed to sell booze. Venues with the “Thai Stop Covid Plus” certification can join businesses with SHA certification in providing diners with alcoholic drinks until 9pm.  Alcohol restrictions to be eased further in Bangkok from tomorrow

Yup, it is simply an obvious policy of favouring Bangkok-based business over their nearest competitor, Pattaya, so that the Bangkok-based community does not ever join in the students protesting against the Prayut government.

I read a lot here that the government is screwing over Pattaya to enforce 'moral' guidelines, but that is crap; it is basic political survival 101. Keep the protests on the streets of Bangkok to a minimum and enjoy the spoils of being in power; the Thai guide to wealth and happiness.

What you say is undoubtaly correct but enforcing "moral" guidelines by possibly the most corrupt administration this country as ever had is a bit of a stretch.
