Popular tourist spots in Malaysia are resembling rubbish dumping grounds as the recent 4 day Deepavali holiday, ended in mounds of litter. The Deepavali, or Diwali, holiday last week saw the Penang Island City council cleaning up an estimated 5,256 tonnes of garbage. Well it is in Indian festival so what what did they really expect ?

It wasn't treated the same as the "holy Ganges river" or its tributaries, at least the beach can be cleaned up.

Yes it could be but it isn't. It takes a while. Same as the river.

Definitely take a long while.

High levels of disease-causing bacteria, as well as such toxic substances as chromium, cadmium, and arsenic, have been found in the Ganges.

I wonder how many of the festival goers stayed back to clean up the mess?? Maybe Malaysian Government charges entry fees to ultimately pay for the cleanup. The responsibility for the cleanup rests with the organisers of the event. Either way it shouldn't have to be Malays to clean up the mess made by others. No responsibility ....no festival next year!
