Like teenagers at a house party, customers ran from a restaurant near Bali Hai as Pattaya City Police raided the business looking for illegal alcohol service. The raid happened at 9 pm last night as police made the rounds, inspecting businesses and making sure restaurants were obeying the continued ban on alcohol sales and consumption now that it has been lifted in a few key tourism hotspots but frustratingly not in Pattaya. Police say they did not find any alcohol served on customers’ tables during their raid but saw plenty of suspicious things pointing to booze being served illegally, not […]

The alcohol was taken away....you have heard of take aways, haven't you?? They were following the advice of the Thai minister/mayor who recommended that come 9pm, you just need to drink it, take it away or throw it away. So they took it away...no harm done. Just lots of soda water and half filled coke bottles....better check the Coke bottles for traces of scotch, Rum and any number of other things that go with coke :)

"Pattaya police see no proof of alcohol in restaurant, but customers fled"

I have a theory that is both fantastic and mind-blowing.

I have a theory that will literally blow the socks off a person because it is so wild, remarkable and unusual.

I have a theory that rivals great historical concepts like the world is actually round rather than flat.

I have a theory that equates to Galileo's belief that the Earth revolves around the Sun rather than the other way around.

I have a theory more wild than Relativity, the Big Bang Theory AND Gravity combined.

My theory is...

... the bar patrons didn't trust the Thai police!

Are you blown away?

Well blow jobs were always one of my favourites so you could well be right

Yeah wat do you think? With all the news, the reputation of the police isn't so great nowadays. Arresting people willy nilly who drink something, beating up protests, hitting random cars in the middle of Bangkok.

Hmm, I wonder why they ran away.

"Police find no evidence that glasses had contained alcohol". I wonder what persuaded them to lose their sense of smell. Was the police chief seen talking quietly to the owner during the raid?

Probably reprimanding him for the "light" brown paper bag he sent over earlier.

'no proof of alcohol'  Ah, it was 0 degree proof alcohol then.

When i ran a GoGo bar in Pattaya years ago when Thaksin was PM, Pavina Hongsakul came to inspect Pattaya to see if there was any prostitution.
She came in our bar along with five uniformed police assigned as security. As soon as they came in and sat down, half our customers left, assuming it was going to be a raid and they would be 'fitted up'.
Needless to say, 'she found no evidence of prostitution'.

Note I wrote 'uniformed police', perhaps uninformed police would be closer the mark, being Thailand.

Funny you should say that.
After Pavina's "I found no evidence of prostitution in Pattaya" statement, Duncan Stern an Aussie journo, wrote in a Pattaya newspaper that 'she must have been driven around blindfold in the boot of a car."

Penthouse Hotel in Pattaya used to provide an "escort" service in their VIP van from the airport to Pattaya where if required blindfolds could be provided, or so I was told.  I guess that was due to landing in BKK and being blinded by the sunlight 😉 Wonder if that place exist anymore, my friend is asking ?

I don't know if it's still going or not. I remember it well, we were just round the corner from Penthouse, run by Dodgy Dudley,

I remember about the escort van service, with the blacked out windows - must be the same sun it was protecting customers from.

Blimey and there was me thinking vans with blacked out windows were just for carrying a different sort of stiff about ..

From what I was told with some of the older VIPs it was a close run thing as to whether you were stiff entering and a stiff existing. I think that was due to oxygen deprivation after coming in on along flight and the champagne in the van. Lucky there were two fully trained ladies to ensure your well-being on the run down to Pattaya.
