News Forum - 4 new holidays in Thailand hoped to stimulate domestic travel

Recommended Posts

Apparently in an effort to boost tourism revenue in Thailand, the Thai Cabinet has approved the creation of 4 new holidays in the middle of next year that allows for extra-long weekends. The government hopes that the creation of these long holiday weekends will encourage domestic travellers to take short getaway holidays around Thailand and stimulate the economy. The move is an attempt to help the ailing tourism sector that government officials hope is churning back to life after the reopening of the country to international tourists at the beginning of this month. The Deputy Government Spokesperson said that the […]

These politicians must have taken an economics course where the text books were in Crayon.

People have only X amount of money, whether they have 5 holidays, 10 holidays, or 50 holidays.

So even assuming that extra holidays will somehow cause more domestic tourism which is hardly a certainty, the money spent on travel will then be gone and not spent on other things.  The net result for the Thai economy is Zero.

Holiday your way out of a recession, a strange approach.

They studied economics from the same source as the USA except they are taxing and sinking the country into unfathomable debt on their road to prosperity.

Agreed, also you have to offset the circulation of money increase with the lost in production. The main driver of the thai exonomy.

insane more like.  The economy needs people working,  not lying around on the beach. The impact on internal tourism will be minimal at best.

There's actually a curve and theoretically it can work.

Some extra holiday time will boost the economy because of extra spending, whilst work is now so flexible that the lost time is mostly compensated.

Too much extra holiday time will obviously cost more in non-productivity.

I'm not sure whether, on balance, in Thailand there are enough people able to spend to tilt the balance in favour of extra holiday time.

But I'd say for now there are much more pressing problems to address first.

tell your super officials to open Russia.  We will all go to you at once.  I need to REMOVE the quarantine for 7 days, because of it I will spend $ 10,000 in the Dominican Republic, and not in Thailand.  And there are THOUSANDS of us in Russia!  We bring money to other countries where there is NO quarantine.  We have vacation for ONLY 14 days 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️.  Why are we NOT on the list of 64 countries ????  Look at the statistics of infections in the World!  UK or USA is worse than us 🤦🏼‍♂️

Crayon.

maybe they are counting on lending to the population for the holidays?  😅

Your ladies are attractive as well, especially from the Ukrainian area ( sorry not supposed to mention that) . Long legs with blonde hair, much better than the Thai lady boys so perhaps a trade deal - bring your women and take back the lady boys  but of course quarantine and restrictions need to be lifted first.😉
