I quite often disagree with you on many subjects, but reading comment after comment, yours is the one that reflects what I also personally see and understand on that subject. This diagram is quite interesting indeed and not at all suprising...to me anyway.

I am also very surprised that so many are commentating on prostitution but not one ever mention the people in the center of it: the girls. It is always poverty that attracts prostitution around the world (not suprising to observe that in Thailand many are coming from Isaan). But in Thailand it goes way further. I would doubt that in Isaan for example there is one girl who doesn't know a friend, or a friend of a friend that has not done it at some point or another, with the success stories being the ones who have a "boyfriend" (or more) sending money monthly, money pratically always to support the family. The alternative? No work? Working in the farm? Or a crap job that will earn monthly what they can get in a couple of days? And for the most successful ones, it is just an easy way to make far more money that they could earn with a "normal" job. So closed down Pattaya and another Pattaya will open around the corner. In fact, as you righlty mentioned it Soidog, Pattaya is everywhere in Thailand. Even on the quite Koh Chang there a couple of "red districts", one of them is called by people there the..."little Pattaya".

Yes it seams many lost complete the view of the reality. Like I not want a Pattaya I want a high end quality destination. It seams now the Clowns escaped from the circus and the kids from the kindergarten. They are broke (state and private households debts) have no quality but not understand maybe to start first with quality (standards) with themself. Like little kids or Clowns thinking the new Pattaya will fall from the sky with the new quality tourists. Is that the "new normal" that we are now ruled and managed by the " Clowns and kids club". I hope some adults are coming sending the clowns back into the circus and the kids back into the kindergarten. This people have lost any sense of the reality and living in a fantasia bubble so I guess it is not wise to let 3 years old kids the car with passengers inside.

Well thank you for the backhanded compliments in your opening remarks there @Manu😂

As you elude to, the real tragedy is the girls who find they have few choices in life but to work in red light districts. In many countries drug addiction or human trafficking accounts for many of the women working in prostitution. In Thailand it seems predominantly to be poverty. Having said that, it often surprises me how many of these girls will walk around with a modern smart phone and often have a new car (paid monthly) back home in their village.

I think many turn to prostitution to solve an immediate financial problem such as the family home or farm about to be repossessed and then realise they are making a lot of money to provide an overall better lifestyle. In addition, they get to meet lots of relatively affluent foreign men who will send money and some go on to marry and live happily overseas or in a more wealthier lifestyle in Thailand than they could have achieved otherwise.  I’m certainly not judging them on any of that. I’ve been paid handsomely for my services over the years, albeit not of the sexual kind 😉

You seem to have a singular perverted focus on life, so ìts not possible to say anything else. So I'll stop bothering.

I'm not alone and we'll just have to see how this plays out. I would be investing in a sleazy bar just now.

I honestly don’t have a clue what you are talking about. You spout on regularly on this forum about sleazy bars and foreigners frequenting red light areas etc and when I question your motives you then suggest I’m the one with the focus. Simply incredible 😂😂

Many Thais dislike the sleazy of the Pattaya bar/bar fly scene. This isn't present in places they visit in Thailand and is regarded as foreign. I happen to agree with this.

There are plenty of Thai entertainment venues that I prefer. That's my personal preference.

That said the places I seen tend to promote a high risk of virus transmission with little or no benefit to Thai society, so I'd prefer to seem them stay closed.

There are many things wrong with Pattaya but if it was cleaned up it might be a good place to live.

@LoongFred  I’m not sure if you are English? Some years ago we had a famous comedy duo called “The Two Ronnies”.  They did a famous parody sketch of a well known TV quiz show called Mastermind. In it, one of the Ronnies expert subject was “answering the question before last” (attached link). It’s just that your replies to me remind me of this sketch. Anything I ask or comment on your reply seems to have no relevance to what I said!  Maybe your specialist subject is answering questions that someone else asked?

Enjoy the video 😉

Thank God I'm not English. That said I have no idea what you are referring to.

Thanks but brit humor doesn't do it for me.

Yes not many British comedy tv series make it in America. I think the humour is too sophisticated. The Office seemed to do ok. James Cordon on Saturday Night live went down ok though ??

They'd have to learn English first 😉

Might be funny after a half dozen bottles of beer, that is.

We need to get back onto topic and would any of you like to start a topic British Comedy vs American Comedy, certainly would be entertaining.
