Recommended Posts

The new Thailand Pass system launches on Monday when the country re-opens with minimal quarantine for vaccinated tourists from select countries. The Bangkok Post reports a government spokesman as saying the new system will replace the Certificate of Entry with a more streamlined process. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana says the online system will allow tourists, Thais, and foreign residents of Thailand to record their travel and health information and upload their paperwork before their journey begins. It’s understood that approval will take between 1 and 3 days, but immediate approval could be granted to travellers with vaccination QR codes that can be […]

There is no information - any place that I've looked - that tells how a foreigner, working in Thailand with insurance through the national Social Security scheme can prove they already have the appropriate insurance coverage.

Each time it denotes: "Have at least US$50,000 in Covid-19 insurance coverage (returning Thai citizens eligible for national health insurance are exempt)"

Well, if having national health insurance makes them exempt, it makes others with it exempt, as well.

The problem is, no one seems to have thought of this, so there isn't any procedure.

I wrote to the Thai embassy in the UK, and they didn't even read the email, just C&P'd the basic rules...which we already know.

mrstretch,i know the feeling as well.here in usa  e mailing the thai embassy is the same!!instant reply says''follow the rules already in visa section'' and it explains nothing thats up to date.looks like no one will be coming until they drop that insurance crap and go back to how visa was two years ago.ive been living in thai  six months each year for 18 years before the covid.now im stuck  by this crazy insurance.any over age 70,75 will find it very costly.if you get the o or o/a you have to buy it for a year, even you stay only 6 months.makes no sence.seems the thai govt dont want us back.in the meantime thai buiness and thai people suffer and going broke.i just dont get it.either open or not.stop this jumping around crap. chock dee to all.

The one thing i would like some clarification on is the negative pcr before travelling....

Is it provide a negative test result 'taken' within 72 hours, or the result 'received' within 72 hours prior to travelling ? I have seen both statements printed in various English-Thai publications. For me to travel for work into Europe it was always the result received within 72 hours prior to travel.

To the best of my knowledge it is 72 hours before your flight time. You need to get the timing as accurate as possible a) To ensure you get the result back in time and b) To allow for a delayed take off. The clock starts ticking once you have undertaken the test, not from when you get the results. Should work fine but personally I still think it's a bit like Russian Roulette.

Looks to me like the Thailand pass is going to be here to stay. That is, until they realise that tourists need to be attracted and as long as there are hoops to jump through, they will never return to previous numbers.

I think there will be an initial surge from those that want to visit family friends etc. but holiday tourists will not return, they will look at the complications such as uploading documents and go elsewhere.

If you want tourists to return in numbers the you need to cut the c**p and make it simple. Tourists will see The Thailand Pass as a visa application for a county that says you don’t need one for up to 30 days. Not to mention the the massive risk of data theft from all the uploading of passports, medical records etc. The Thailand Pass will become “Hackers Paradise”, the go to for private data.

I am afraid the future is not bright for Thailand. Every junction they come to, they take the wrong turn.

27 years there for winter's I can sort all this stuff i can't even find the proper hotel in english shall they put me in a plastic bubble and escort me a vehicle or can I get my own taxi or what if the hotel doesnt have a pcr test or taxi but is sha qualified so confusing . Trace me app wow so i am like a chipped dog something. Like a prison planet test country . I been trying to figure this out but the hotel pops up in thai . What happened to the Land of Smiles I can't see your smiles. Anyone that has had covid and has antibodies or is vaxxed has some immunity apparently but whos business is it my personal medical health . Why don't they tell all the hiv people to show who has the hiv on the app so I can see where they are ? The other diseases like herpes hepatitis why is this so special polio we need tracing for every disease lets not discriminate now. I love Thailand but like my father said over control is out of control .. Im so sad i want to come back there what has happened to my country . Please tell me this is just a nightmare and i'm gonna wake up and be in Thailand in the hot Thai sun sipping a cold beer eating delicious thai food and smiling at the locals going for massages  man I miss my country . Please God tell me it isn't so take me back . Make it stop.
