From November 1, vaccinated tourists from a list of 46 low-risk countries can enter Thailand with minimal quarantine. They will be required to show evidence of being fully vaccinated and have a negative Covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure from their home country. They will then be tested again after their arrival and will need to wait in their hotel until they receive a negative result. According to a Nation Thailand report, Apisamai says there is no need for residents to […]

They still don't get it.

The tourists will not be the big problem it will be the local population scrambling to get in on the money from those tourists.

I don't blame the Thais some have had no real income for over a year and (as Thais do) they owe money everywhere, that's how they survive.

nailed it!

Sure.

And Songkran was safe too.

And remember the English minister who said he fed his kids beef as it was safe at the start of the BSE crisis?

You can listen to politicians.

You just shouldn't believe them.

It's amazing really when you consider when covid numbers were nearly non existent and all in quarantine, how defensive Thailand was. Now that there are 100,000 + active cases, CCSA is assuring everyone it'll be ok to reopen?? Until 80% of the population over 12 are vaccinated, only tourist areas that have reached this goal, should be opening.

If it's "safe" to open, then it is also safe to revive and restart ALL entertainment and nightlufe!

Why? You can open outside bars, restaurants and entertainment venues without the need to open enclosed spaces with high numbers of people. Why do you think it’s safe to open ALL?

Exactly. The Thai authorities spent 12 months scaring the living daylights out of the Thai population. Locking the country down totally and appearing at every opportunity to explain why they had been so successful. They led the population to believe Zero Covid cases was not only possible, it was also the only number acceptable. It was always just a matter of time before Covid broke through and things took off as everywhere else in the world. Now they expect the average Thai to flip and accept 10,000 a day and 100 deaths is just fine and let’s open even though less than 40% are fully vaccinated. What they mean is that all the important people are 100% vaccinated so time to open and if 100 plebs a day die, so what. 65 die each day in the roads so what’s the problem?
