Recommended Posts

Prachuap Khiri Khan, the Western province that is home to tourist magnet Hua Hin, may not be ready for reopening in just over a week. Amid spiking Covid-19 infections, some officials in Hua Hin are calling for a delay, pushing back reopening for the town until December. The province had 240 infections in today’s report, half as many as the day before after experiencing a spike over the last few days. But, unlike Chiang Mai that uncovered clusters in markets and suspect spread from illegal gatherings, Prachuap Khiri Khan is tracing their Covid-19 infections to a different source: migrant and […]

Would anybody be surprised if there was a u turn at the very last moment? In fact, I'd be surprised if not.

Well it makes you wonder if this is why the process and finalising of plans and “Thailand Pass “ is being dragged along. Again I give the Thais the benefit of the doubt that they know exactly what they are doing. If nothing is sorted until Nov2 then embassies are slow to change details and airports are slow to open etc etc, it means that few if any will arrive but they are open (save face)!  If that isn’t their plan, then the only other conclusion is that they are utterly incompetent, brainless, morons.

Back in 2018 Hua Hin tourism was mostly Thai, Chinese, and older affluent expats AFAIK

So again they are looking at mostly domestic tourism from this "reopening" .

Chinese are certainly not going to be coming with the restrictions leaving and re-entering China

High case numbers in the factories around HuaHin are nothing new, they stay there and do not leak into the local population. The officials who get their salaries whatever happens, may be pushing for a delay but the people running devastated businesses sure as hell aren't.

My response on another forum to this report was a tad more direct....🙂

If he fears big outbreaks of Covid from visitors then he knows **** all about Covid.

The fukwit who said that is, I suggest, in a minority. Anyone who fears Covid from visitors should either get educated - or just don't ****ing open! Opening is not mandatory. It's not rocket-science.

When will these brain dead morons realise that tourists are at greater risk of Covid from locals than the reverse !!

The Grand (Illusion) of the Thai Reopening...An enigma, wrapped in a riddle, hidden in a Cypher......(sigh)

(Thais scramble to repair the wheel that that once again falls off the Luxurious Welcome Wagon)   smh...

For the Million Dollar Prize to win it all, explain to everyone the exact details one needs to enter LOS(sweats)

hua hin is full of extremely wealthy people and has no need for tourism beyond the right kind of people popping down from there bangkok homes to their weekend retreats in hua hin.

the only hoi poli they want in town are their servants, golf caddy's and restaurant waiting staff.

Any other riff raff such as ordinary tourists only make the place look untidy and are not very welcome anytime.

hua hin does not need regular Joe soap tourists and has never done so.

Total nonsense.

The Government officials represent  only the privileged rich who have no idea of the suffering of the poor locals who are struggling just to survive (and don't care anyway) . Another months extension before the reopening of Hua Hin would  be devastating to these ordinary Thais ...it means another month finding ways to eat ,pay the rent etc. without any real  income. Cathat is right ...these 5 star temporary visitor just need to have their servants in their 5 star hotels and  playgrounds.
