Yes, I shall ignore advice when its wrong information . I shall read the instructions and follow that advice

There are about 50 different companies offering to supply the tests , some may even offer a collection service , the dozen or so companies that I have checked out only offer only the postal service .

Jesus wept - EVERY supermarket will deliver everything to you, every hardware store will deliver everything to you, you ARE allowed to take your own tests to the postbox OR pay a premium for a collection service - was there anything else ?

I have no doubt that there will be, let's wait for some more laughs 😂

You can still travel but need to book a day 2 and day 8 PCR test and self isolate at home for 10 days. There is also a “test to release” process that may help you end isolation early. You may know all this already? All information as ever on the .gov.uk website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-to-england-from-another-country-during-coronavirus-covid-19#if-you-are-not-fully-vaccinated

My question was really how to get 'fully vaccinated' with a third jab. I don't fancy staying in my brother's family spare room for ten days. Not fair on his family. So the alternative is a £2k+ hotel room. I'd like to avoid this.

Its not about how many Jabs you have had, its about whether the jabs are accepted by the U.K .

Agree but in my case because my first jab (Sinovac) is not acceptable but my second (AStra Zenica) is, I now need a third jab to get in without quarantine (hotel or self) so my choices are one  more AZ or 2 mRNA. THe problem, as usual is how do I get one more, esp when half of Thailand still have none.

I am not clear if 1 x SV + 1 x AZ + 1 mRNA is an acceptable mix. May need to be 1 x SV + 2 x AZ.

Fortunately I have no scheduled date for my trip home, so as usual, will play the waiting game.

i think we have to head the sino + AZ +AZ  route

Reason being daughter has phoned hospital today  i dont think we are alone by sounds of things anyway we asked a very helpful doctor guy that we know from vaccination set up but he said another az would probably be quickest (I am hoping to be gone by January)

Obviously i have offered to pay will keep you informed

You are allowed out to use the post box and you are also allowed out to buy necessities .

There is no need to ask anyone else to do anything for you ,

Yes I know. However, I was responding to a suggestion that hone PCR testing during self- isolation was a flawed approach as you needed to go out to post the test kit.

Totally understand. I’m afraid I can’t help with your booster shot question and I suspect no one else can as you are in Thailand. What’s is right at midday has changed and different by 1pm !!  You can get out of isolation early I believe by paying for a “Test to release” on day 5. Good luck with your travels.

I will go next week sometime , I haven't been vaccinated .

No point in getting a vaccination in Thailand if half the World don't recognise it .

I will then have to get vaccinated again in the U.K. and I dont want four doses of the vaccination within a few weeks

So guess you have booked your ticket, how much was it if you don't mind me asking ?

No, havent yet booked a ticket .

Theres a football game in London on Saturday that I want to watch , I can probably see the ground from my house in London , but if I go back to the U.K. , I will be stuck quarantined at home and unable to watch the game (unless I can use a neighbours wifi connection) , so I may as well stay in Thailand to watch the game and go back next week ,

Hows times have changed , there was a time when people would travel thousands of miles to watch football games , these days , its a case of NOT travelling thousands of miles to watch a football game .

I have been checking out the flights though and the cheapest is 9000 Baht (CM -London) and the most expensive is 223 000 Baht (although there will probably be some extra costs)

You need to be careful though because the 9000 Baht flight , the CM-BKK flight may be a domestic flight and you would have to collect your bags at BKK and go through immigration there and then check in to the new BKK-Lon flight and you only get 90 minutes to do that .

Thai air have direct flights to London from BKK for 17 000 Baht +(Including the CM-BKK flight)

I went to CM airport yesterday and there are no more international flights from there , all departures are domestic , so you need to go through immigration in Bangkok .

I would leave at least four hours between arriving in BKK and departing , needing to collect your bags and the check in and go through immigration .

So that means a bus, taxi or one way hire car for you to get to BKK given domestic flights are only open to vaccinated people ?

Flights can be taken if you are not vaccinated , you just need a recent negative PCR Test

Let's see how long that still lasts. Plenty of airlines starting to demand proof of vaccination AND negative PCR.

Apart from  AirAsia , N.Z and Aussie airlines, which other airlines are doing that ?

I believe United, Swiss, KLM and some others. Then again, I'd advise against booking anything unless you were leaving very soon, as any airline can change their demands any time and then you're stuck.

No, KLM doesnt need you to be vaccinated before flying with them, they dont even require a PCR test

When I enter details it clearly requires me to show a negative PCR test even if vaccinated.

The exception to not have to show a negative PCR result is if you're vaccinated and fly within the EU.

Things change fast so I'd be interested where you saw that?
