Recommended Posts

In Washington DC, Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai met with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and US Senator Tammy Duckworth to discuss the 1 million Pfizer vaccines the US donated that Thailand has yet to collect. Last week both sides argued that they were waiting on the other’s bureaucratic red tape to complete the donation, with Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul saying they hadn’t received paperwork through proper channels and Duckworth saying she told Thai officials to file paperwork a month ago. It's too sad really.

They've been talking about it since mid Juli. Last week it came to a head and this week they agree to talk some more next week.

It's not like Thailand has a crisis and desperately needs those doses! All cool here 🥴

Please Thai officials, continue talking and take a break from your hard work once in a while! No rush 🤬

We'll wait while you make more idiotic plans for opening up in the meantime.

🤬🤬🤬

Flip flop, flip flop, right hand, left hand, I mean, come on, you couldn't make this up if you tried, I suppose it just proves how utterly incompetent this sham government are, and yet they seem to think they are wonderful. 555

The US wants Thailand to ask for it, Thailand wants the US to ask for permission to donate it.  Simple as that.

I'd say, if it's not very much appreciated, then feel free to purchase them instead.

This is just bizarre.

The US wheels out Secretary of State Blinken in person in an effort to get Thailand to take the donation of life saving medication.

This should be low level paper shuffling on both sides but Thailand cannot, or will not, get their act together.

Possible, but most unlikely.

No such thing as a free lunch, or vaccines. Thailand is a pawn in the New Great Game playing out right now and is trying to have it both ways. They want to have their finger in the new pie and keep getting nice roads and high-speed trains but also hedge their bets in case the debt prison they'll get into when the payments come due needs a sugar daddy or three to buy medicine for the sick buffalo.

With the involvement of  Blinken are we sure it will be done OK.  His track record needs a lot of improvement.
