A paramotor – similar to a paraglider with a fan-like propellor on the back – has been soaring above Sukhothai delivering essentials to flood victims in need. Like Santa in his sleigh, 38 year old Vichai Tiyasan glides above the rain drench flood plains swooping down to drop gift care packages to the stranded people below. The adventurous paramotor pilot has volunteered to do his part to help people in deep floodwaters that are unable to travel and don’t otherwise have access to essentials like dry food and urgent supplies. Does the Thai army not have helicopters ?    why on this earth is it left to an individual with a powered paraglider to offer relief to stranded villages. Totally incredible only in Thailand...

An excellent individual indeed but just another example how normal Thais are,  rather than the incompetent, arrogant and depraved elite who consider that they are only the ones that matter. And you are right about allowing foreigners to help. They hate it as it shows to the people we could help that we care more about them than the government.

Kudos to the paraglider pilot.  We need to see more people reach out and help their fellow man in times of trouble.

That's a telling question.  With this type of flooding in a Western country, one would expect the military and the National Guard (if there is one) to be called out for help, rescue and such.

I don't remember seeing the Thai military helping flood victims.  Perhaps my memory is faulty.

This type of character has always been the case regarding Thais.

The community, familial and social extensions are rather instinctive.

Over and over again you guys keep making the same mistake in thinking govt's anywhere care about you and your well being. Think about this when you take your vaccine, that they are pushing so hard...why do they do nothing about the flooding, PM 2.5, road death carnage, dengue mosquito problems or a 1000 other things that negatively affect your life?

according to this website Thailand's military has 261 helicopters.

i am guess they are all being used for spare parts to keep the VIP's copters operational. anyone remember the Thai pilot that posted on facebook all the things that were wrong with his helicopter and bad weather for his flight and then crashed with a thai general on board that ordered him to fly?

      Concerning 'Kraut' : Has anybody you know ever tried out with the Cabbage- & Mustard-relative which the Chinese call 'February Orchid' - or Orychophragmus violaceus in Latin & 'Chinese Violet Cress' in English, in Thai gardens ? It is supposed to be the most nutritious of all members of the Cabbage Family...and is even a "good looker" which can be grown as an ornamental plant, apparently ? And then I wonder whether you Thai gardeners have ever wanted to start to breed your very own type of 'TROPICALLY ADAPTED & HEAT-RESISTANT THAI GARDEN ROSE' ? Because only yesterday I discovered that the only known 'Proper Tropical Rose' - which the botanists call Rosa clinophylla (or sometimes Rosa involucrata) - has actually been discovered growing wild in both your northern Chiang Rai Province - where it is known locally as 'Nam Kam Hai' - and then also over in your E and SE Nakhon Phanom and Ubon Ratchatani Provinces of Thailand,- where it then is known as 'Khonta Nam', locally. And this particular, wild Rose is apparently the ONLY KNOWN ROSE TRULY ADAPTED TO TROPICAL CLIMATE CONDITIONS, and in Thailand is only found at low altitudes, of 200 and 400 m. And then this particular Rose has even adapted to thrive under SEMI-AQUATIC CONDITIONS, and in its Indian haunts typically has been found growing out in rice-fields, with only its top-branches sticking out of the water. Then this Rose may vary a bit in nature, but in some forms occur naturally as a small shrub of only about 1 m., and with a single, rather big, white and sweet-smelling flower produced on top of each stem...and thus perfect seem to show the perfect qualities to start hybridization-experiments to create 'The New, Tropical, Thai Garden-rose', I now dare to suggest : Or...what do YOU think, 'Over There' - ?!

      Didn´t it get leaked, at least? Thought I read something like this. If I read statistics right, the "ghost guns" are mostly made with easy, and legal, buyable unnumbered frames. And this weapon numbers are rising and rising. Aside that stealing a gun, in a country where everyone can buy and have one, is a lot easier, as in countries with stricter rules. Oh, and the drug cartels are smuggling uncounted weapons, legally bought in US, over the border Imho, stopping the "walmart" selling of guns and gun parts, ammunition, could help a lot to reduce this problem.
