News Forum - Thailand looks to Indian visitors celebrating Diwali to compensate for lack of Chinese visitors

Guys...we need to respect the welcome injection of much needed funds into the Thai economy that Indian tourists would provide.

Yes, Indians are often misunderstood but they enjoy dining out, visiting tourist attractions and tip generously, which is exactly what the service sector needs right now.

Thai's also respect their custom in market settings because both cultures enjoy a good negotiation and its not uncommon to see both parties smiling with delight after engaging in a healthy bartering session.

What could go wrong?

India, the regional hub of Covid, budget tourists, and fake certificates.

Thailand should look at what happened when a load of UK resident Indians traveled to a family/religious festival and returned without quarantine. We went from a few hundred new cases a day to 30,000+ cases a day. If that doesn't change their mind nothing will

The festival is early November? Anyone traveling for that already has plans locked in. Never mind thailand hasn’t issued many of its new rules yet. Tourists hate uncertainty.

The Administrative Court in Phetchaburi has just removed any uncertainty that tourists hate, confirming that if you're a foreigner you will pay significantly more should you need to pay to visit a hospital:

"Fees start to climb significantly at the third tier for people on non-immigrant visas like working foreigners and expats and costs often skyrocket for the fourth tier which includes international tourists and those who are retired in Thailand."

With respect vet, I don't think you should tar everyone with the same brush. I can understand your displeasure and anger at some of the comments but it is not exclusive to Thailand, it's global sadly. I supect a number of people living in Thailand whether Thai's or expats (or sexpats as you prefer to refer to them) are expressing their frustration at the Thai Government but you still have to take into account that the worst variant was identified in India. I don't think you should take it personally.
