News Forum - Anutin: US donation offer of 1 million vaccines never received

Recommended Posts

Apparently citing chain of command technicalities, Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul denied a report that Thailand didn’t respond to the US offering a donation of 1 million free Pfizer vaccines. He said no official formal notice of an offer to donate vaccines was received by his ministry. Anutin explained that the chain of command for vaccine donations involves the United States Department of State passing on the offer to the US embassy in Bangkok who in turn conveys the information to the Thai government in order for them to respond to the offer. The minister stated that no such […]

"Minister Anutin says that the Ministry of Public Health has been directed to hand over management and distribution duties of all vaccines donated from the United States to the Department of Disease Control though it is unclear if this was due to the possibility that Thailand missed out on a million-vaccine donation due to bureaucratic chain of command red tape."

The reason that it was unclear if responsibility for receiving and administering the vaccines was transferred to another department was because no Government Bureaucrat had ever been punished for a mistake before.

"We are hoping to find out who actually took action to rectify this mistake and fire them" said a fictional bureaucrat. "If we took action here, then the Thai people might expect us to fix other mistakes, and who knows where that would lead."

This minister would have much difficulty locating his rear end with both hands and a mirror. He has bungled every aspect of the current pandemic, yet he continues to have the support of the leadership. He is unqualified and incompetent to hold any meaningful role in public service. His business credentials consist of being born into the right family, short of that, I can’t imagine he would have any success at all

Allegedly he isn’t. He just needs consistency in his job to prove it. As he is the best person for the job in Thai government. Next step up the ladder for him at next election, ……

That is either laughable or insane, or both

and , anutin, being the competent professional that he is, just sat back and did what he does best: nothing;

o wait, he was constructing his excuses for doing nothing

"Constructing excuses" well ownes a construction business so maybe, just maybe, he is capable of doing that.

Utter BS. Sounds like their plan as they do not want anything else but the CCP/CP junk and the home made brew now and in the end. How many vaccines like from ordering or red tape issues of such like that of Moderna have been screwed up looking all on purpose? I do not believe one little bit that it is not on purpose.

Governments do fuck things up, and bureacracy often makes a misstep, but I have a feeling the Yanks aren't the one dancing out of tune on this one.

That, in Thai-ese, is a clear rebuke.  They can't make him lose face publicly but they can try to circumvent his inability to do his job well.

The US should simply say: "Enough! We're through sending you anything. If Thailand wants vaccines they can pay for it through normal channels. And, by the way, we're increasing the tariffs on Thai goods to match those Thailand puts on US goods. If you prefer everything in Thailand to come from China, go right ahead. We don't care, anymore."

Shortly after the 1.5m were delivered on 30/7 (and still hanging around, not being jabbed completely), we all read about the 1m more to arrive in September.

If the whole country knows, it takes a particular sort of "out of touch" person to be unaware, especially as it concerns something they badly need.

And I also miss a "sorry, we're on it now and within the hour we will accept"!

No, now they'll delay even more, even though it's the same product they accepted before.

If I were the donating party, I'd say "good luck with your efforts by yourself"!
