The place will be safe when 86% of the population is vaccinated.

86% from infants to the oldest centenarian.

86% don't come out of a hat, it's scientific.

The contagiousness of a virus is expressed with its R0, for Delta R0 is 7. The vaccination rate for the clusters to die out naturally  1 - (1 / R0) so 86%.

I hope not, imagine him at the desk at immigration? Sourpuss and intelligent at the desk for 5 years. We would be well and truly out of luck. … then it would be not tourists but expat’s and business people that would suffer.

It makes sense. Khao Lak has been totally smashed by covid. It is mostly a sit by the pool in a big resort being served sort of place for families and groups who just want to relax.

Thinly populated so easy to keep the locals away and safe.

Nothing for the mongers there, so no high risk of spread that way.

It could be easily managed.

And south of Khao Lak is the Samet Nangshe and Natai Beach areas that are closer to Phuket Airport than Patong, Kata, Karon etc. and also sparsely populated.

And Phangnga has had very low covid numbers.

Makes more sense than Phuket currently.

I wish them all the best.
