Speaking of nightlife, once again my 2 a-hole neighbors are at it again. One karaoke inside and the other outside drinking, and both with friends. 12am is the shut the f up hour if not stopped by then. Lovely thai people in lovely Thailand n places that have money. In the USA they would be in jail already.

But … i can now suggest another place on @Bob20 Chiang Mai tours ….. around to @HolyCowCm neighbors for some drinks and karaoke before bed at 4 am. You know the neighbour's won’t ring the police hotline, and as they would be sandbox tourist, they would be untouchable even if they did turn up.

You can arrange it next to @HolyCowCm's place. He already said he won't call the police 🤣🤣🤣 , no need for a hotel then, straight back on the bus at daylight!

Ok, but tickets have to be purchased directly from my wife. And sleeping in my backyard cost you extra so don’t get have police catch you after hour. No blanket or pillow? That right must buy extra ticket again.

Even if everything was open in Chiang Mai, it would still be crushingly boring.

But still on par with the current Phuket Sandbox

That is true. But HCM has big mouth, maybe more bad than going to slammer. Beside no HCM big mouth you must buy ticket from wife.

Careful you may need a brown envelope or to satisfy the boys in brown.

I think they would have the Chinese build it first.  But if Trump did offer, he would say he would build the Greatest of the Great Walls and make CM Great again.

Gotta remember, though, the southern border wall had segments that would self-topple in a stiff breeze.

I didn’t say how much the wife would charge them to attend , and in order for her to lose her sleep with the extra noise and duties.

This is an interesting concept: Bring people into Phuket/Samui for the first week to isolate the vast majority of incoming infections and then let them out in dribs and drabs to see other places. Given Samui's experience (and with the new data the ten extra travelers/day will provide) the sealed route nonsense will be dropped quickly. Regardless of how eff'ed up this sounds like on paper it does provide a starting point. The Phuket Sandbox, which has garnered more than a plurality of negative comments on the forums, has resulted in a daily average of about 7,000 people running around Phuket than were there prior to the sandbox.

Give this "charming" plan some time, they'll come to their senses and open CM up as their goals won't be met nor their worst fears realized.

There ya go, Chinese quality issues again, and otherwise as everything from the Trump wall was actually designed to fall and crush all the illegals saving money to not send them back.

No one is saying never do it in CM, we are just saying get everyone vaccinated with their choice of vaccine and then let it rip. But majority wise no one is even close to near being vaccinated here. So until then shelve it and out it on ice.

Sounds like a scheme made up by a slick tour bus company. Control the tourists, where they go and what they buy and get all their money. It's like the Chinese dollar tours. Unfortunately the average person in CM is left out. I call it a scam and it will most probably fail.

Wait so what does this mean for people that live in Chiang Mai and is coming back from abroad and is a foreigner. Can I go back straight to my house or do I need to spend time in some kind of hotel for 7 or 14 days before that?

You can only come into the country (at present) through Phuket or BKK.  Quarantine 14 days at ASQ hotel in BKK, or 14 at days at SHA+ hotel in Phuket, and you can travel to Chiang Mai and stay in your house.

If they have the 7+7 for Chiang Mai, it would 7 days in an SHA+ hotel in Phuket and 7 days in an SHA+ hotel in Chiang Mai...THEN you can go to your own house.

No. You can at least go paddling on Phuket. You'd look ridiculous in swimwear trying to paddle in the moat in Chiang Mai. No doubt someone will try.

Far as I know you should be ok to travel as long as all vax and Q papers are in order.  With rules changing almost daily it would pay to be prepared for additional tests depending on the 'colours of zones' you pass through.

That's what decades of Farang hordes [residents/tourists] have created.

I remember, long ago, when CM wasn't the fashion plate - very nice and quaint and local.

My first visit there was 1984. But I disagree that it was created by Farang hordes as that is impossible. What has happened is that Thais have created what it has today simply to make more money for themselves by catering for those Farang hoards as you put it. Purely created by Thais to make Thais more money, simple as that as it is plain commercialisation, the principle of which has ruined many a cultural paradise which Chiang Mai and many other Thai places once were.

Wait, didn't the Government put the opening up of the 5 additional provinces on hold until November

https://pattayatoday.net/thailands-emergency-decree-extended-for-another-two-months/

The subcommittee of the Administrative Center for Covid19 Control, the CCSA, has decided to extend the state of emergency for another two months and postpone the reopening of the country from October 1 to November 1.

So lets see the Disease Control Act has not been amended yet, the Emergency decree has not been lifted and then the country will not be opening up anytime soon.

Makes it hard for a tourist, businesses and folks to keep on starting, stopping, planning, un-planning, canceling, wasting money etc...of course thats my view.

Yes, correct. But this thread was posted before that decision was taken.

And I agree that they shouldn't mess people about with these weekly delays. They should be forthcoming and say "we can't get the vaccination rate high enough until January or February, so we'll support the most needy until then".
