I am sure if Biden said he would head to Ben and Jerry's for Ice Cream, the company would rake in the profits tenfold.  Any word of mouth for an item from a super star is looked upon as gospel, and the fans just have to have the same so they can be like their Star....for the love of Fandom.

While for some "stars" I agree with what you say, the exposure can be incredible.  Look at Wallace and Gromit.  Before the shows were produced, the makers of Wensleydale cheese were at an all-time low, down to 11 employees and the future was bleak.

But since Wallace has a thing for Wensleydale cheese, the company enjoyed incredible success and the cheese became a national favorite in Britain.

It doesn't always work.  Cheeto Jesus's penchant for McDonald's doesn't seem to have boosted their fortunes, even if he did offer a visiting (American) football team that fast food, instead of a proper dinner at the White House.

It's amazing how much "influence" pop stars and social media stars wield.
