No that's illegal. But you made a statement. Just wondering...

As I said.......... I will put money on it.

I am not a gambler but it is the sort of thing that I would be prepared to wager a Fiver on.

It is 3 weekly reviews.......next 2 are 16th September and then 7th October.

My money is on the UK adjusting Thailand to amber at one of the next two fortnightly reviews.

The U.K put Thailand onto its red list because of the lack of Covid  testing done in Thailand and the concern was that a new strain would develop unnoticed in Thailand and that could spread to the U.K and thus Thailand went on the red list .

Thailand hasnt increased its testing, so the UK has no reason to change its red status

You are wrong.....unless you can evidence an official statement confirming that.

It was not about testing.

It was not about testing.

It was made red because of low vaccinations and the possibility of new mutations.

Vaccine roll out is still slow so don't hold your breath for any change.

What I'd like to know:

Where are they counting the positive tested people?

If mass testing, like central some time ago, or Baan Beyond earlier this week, where do they count the people?

For Baan Beyond it means, where are the around 10 positives, plus the double numbers of people put in quarantine, to find, in statistics?

In Wichit? Or there, where they stay and socialize in the evenings ?

And also, are they stopping with the testing at the workplace? Or do they follow up in the home location area, too?

By the way, why wasn't Baan Beyond closed, during central "cleaning", why is it still open now and didn't get disinfected, like central ?

correct.

Almost a million a day is no longer slow.

They got 1.5 million doses of Pfizer I don't know how many weeks ago maybe months and they are still using them. I know there is other vaccines being used but the fact remains if your not in BKK or other deep Red zones a lot of people are still finding it very difficult to get an appointment let alone a vaccine.

Either way I doubt very much it will change the minds of the UK and USA governments to change the Red zone rating.

Correct....that is not lack of "Covid testing"

This was the statement:-

"The Department of Transport said that it has made the decision to move Thailand and Montenegro to the red list because to reflect "the increased case rates in these countries and the higher risk that travel from these countries poses to UK public health".

It added in a statement: "The high rates combined with lower levels of published genomic surveillance in Thailand and Montenegro than other countries, mean that an outbreak of a new variant or existing variants of concern (VOC) or variants under investigation (VUI) cannot be easily identified before it is imported and seeded across the UK."

NB: Just in case anyone thought otherwise, genomic surveillance is not "Covid testing".

I wasn't in the argument friend. I just helped you find the requested details...

First:  The main criteria was "increased cases"...... they started to reduce the day after the UK took the numbers on which they based their addition.

If that was the main criteria then I can state with some confidence that the cases will have reduced by 16th September and 7 October.

The number of vaccinations help and just because there are people in Bumfuk Nowhere not getting jabbed, it does not mean that the vaccination programme is not accelerating.  39,000,000 + vaccinations so far, 38% of the population have had a vaccine, 17% fully vaccinated....... from a piss poor start the catch up is well underway.

Sounds like your getting a bit hot under the collar there fella.

I'm not sure where Bumfuk nowhere is but maybe it's a place you visit regularly.

Not at all Griff, just want a bit of accuracy regarding the reasons for Thailand's red flag status. I consider that to be important as it is the best guide to gauging when (and under what criteria) the UK will re designate Thailand 'amber'.

Surely you have been to Bumfuk Nowhere, it is just beyond the Back of Beyond ......about 10km from colinneil as best as I can judge.

No Pal never felt the urge to go there.

As for the red zone designation  being  for lower levels of published genomic surveillance in Thailand this surely makes it even more unlikely the UK government will change the red to amber anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong I hope your right then I won't  have to cancel my 4th flight trying to get back.

I  sincerely wish you well with that flight.

3 cancellations? Presumably not all because of amber/red changes?

I doubt that Thailand has been good on genomic surveillance but it was previously amber - ergo, the main driver must be number of cases...

And more to add to Phuket numbers …. Plus a close down.

The main SuperCheap shopping complex in Rassada, north of Phuket Town, has been ordered closed for seven days as a measure to prevent COVID-19 infections from spreading after at least 23 staff there were confirmed infected.
