News Forum - Officials expect 400,000+ Covid-19 infections from free ATK plan

Recommended Posts

The Chinese-made Lepu Medical Technology antigen test kits at the centre of a controversial importing deal are now scheduled to be distributed free across Thailand from September 16. Health officials are anticipating a spike of several hundred thousand new Covid-19 cases as a result of ATK distribution. The National Health Security Office expects that as a result of the influx of free and easy testing, many undetected cases will be uncovered. They predict about 5% to 10% of those who take the test will be diagnosed with Covid-19. If that turns out to be true, the 8.5 million ATK results […]

They sound like the TAT but in reverse.

Following trends over the last 40 days, Thailand has seen an average of about a 20% infection rate for those tested for Covid-19. Looking at data from 288 authorised testing labs around Thailand (of 375 total) on just September 4, a total of 40,007 people were tested and 8,804 were confirmed to be infected with Covid-19. That equates to a 22% infection rate. - THAIGER September 8.

Looks like they need to raise their expectations, looks more like 1.87 million.

These venues will be the point of contact where the general public can procure a free antigen test kit after registering using the Mor Prom app.

I assume the logistics will work just as well as the Mor Prom app did for non-Thais who tried to register for vaccination.

All of you people still believe in all of this... %*%^&R^&% That's what's really insane.

What’s the alternative? Ignore the science and ignore all of the official data from all of the countries in the world?

Well Sweden is a country, but how is it relavent? I assume you are cherry picking the one aspect which is that Sweden never had the tight lockdown as seen in many countries. Well neither has Thailand apart from very early on in the pandemic. Swedes are also far more socially compliant than many other countries. They are also wealthy and hence can afford proper PPE for medical staff. The availability of free Covid testing is also far higher. Finally, Sweden did impose restrictions but is easing them following 65% of the country being fully vaccinated. So I fail to see why you say Sweden is an alternative. Sweden is largely doing what all other nations are doing. They are also seen (in the data) to have not been the great success they initially claimed. So I’m sorry but no, Sweden is not an alternative. The article attached provides more:

Time for the Thai Government to secure license to produce Astra Zeneca in Thailand. My country has done it and so can Thailand. The emphasis has firmly shifted to mass vaccination around the world.

Good to hear. But why wasn’t the emphasis to mass vaccination started in December last year when vaccines first became available? How else did people think this would be brought under control?

The Great Barrington Declaration <  https://gbdeclaration.org/ > issued on October 4, 2020 proposed an alternative approach to dealing with covid-19, called Focused Protection

The Great Barrington Declaration did not denounce vaccines as one of the means to get covd-19 under control.  But it certainly did not endorse mass-vaccination.  See attached excerpt:

As immunity builds in the population, the risk of infection to all – including the vulnerable – falls. We know that all populations will eventually reach herd immunity – i.e.  the point at which the rate of new infections is stable – and that this can be assisted by (but is not dependent upon) a vaccine. Our goal should therefore be to minimize mortality and social harm until we reach herd immunity.

The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity, is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk. We call this Focused Protection.

Although the declaration amassed +850.000 signatures, the approach was 'shot down' as the forces with an interest in mass-vaccination proved to formidable to overcome, resulting in the dismal vaccine-failure and the terrible mess we are currently in...

Thanks for the information and I fully understand there are a number of alternatives views out there. However, virtually ALL governments and their medical teams around the world didn’t buy in to them. Deciding instead to contain (through lockdowns and restrictions) until vaccines became available. The vaccines became available in December 2020. So my first question stands in terms of emphasis.

As for the second question of how else did people think it would be brought under control. Many countries including the US and U.K. attempted the controlled herd immunity approach. Deciding to let the virus spread and raise the number of people with antibodies. By March or April 2020, most, if not all, abandoned that approach and moved to containment. There are of course many other views out there. None of which have any scientific credibility in the view of recognised authorities and hence not being perused.
