Vietnam will trial a sandbox project on Phu Quoc, re-opening the island to vaccinated foreign tourists by the end of the year. The plan has been confirmed by the Vietnamese PM, Pham Minh Chinh, according to a TTR Weekly report. The government hopes to attract 2 – 3 million foreign tourists through the Phu Quoc sandbox, although officials have not confirmed which countries they’re expected to arrive from. Those participating in the Phu Quoc sandbox will need to be fully vaccinated and will also have to take several PCR tests, the first of which will be on arrival at the […]

And What'll happen if you test positive? Get locked up in PhuQuoc State Rudimentary Hospital for an unknown number of days?

Why should people who have been vaccinated have to go through these tests at costs when the countries that want them to come are not rolling out there vaccines quick enough. Seems like they all want us farang to pay for their vaccines in order to visit them. Total rip off. Had nearly two years to get this crap sorted.

Because we don't just want you to be protected yourself (with the vaccine) but also we want to know that you're not carrying the virus to spread it here (test).

And yes, these countries are running behind. But that's not an individual's choice, but the responsibility of the government on which there's very little influence, and no reason to expose the population to whatever you may bring into the country.

But none of the vaccines keep you from carrying Covid 19 100% just reduced viral loading so not so sick nor as much to pass on.  If exposed to C-19 there is a good chance your going to have some in your system and, thus, test positive.  That is the fallacy of all this.  It is really about mitigation, not eradication.  The virus is with us to stay, like the flu/cold virus until Pharma can really come up with something to stop it (and most likely the same tech will take care of the flu and common cold as they are all related).

Yes, and even if you are vaccinated, you can pick up the virus 5 minutes after you test negative, so we all need to reduce big unnecessary movements in a country until most people in the areas your traveling to are protected by vaccination as well.

That's why I am so against all these ignorant plans to open up areas whilst vaccination there is still at very low levels.
