An uptick of 16,031 new Covid-19 cases and 220 coronavirus-related deaths were reported today by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. In the 24-hour period since the last count, the CCSA has recorded 15,417 recoveries. There are now 143,038 people in Thailand being treated for the coronavirus. In the latest and most severe wave of the virus in Thailand, which was first recorded on April 1, the CCSA has reported a total of 1,309,687 confirmed Covid-19 infections. You'd think at least one news outlet somewhere would by now understand that the "cases" figure is irrelevant. They could inform and educate their readers, as these figures are not from a randomised test-population and the size of the test population changes daily too.

Just get vaccinating, starting with the most vulnerable and at risk. The rest is side-show. The vaccine will not get rid of the virus, it will simply in most cases prevent serious disease and death. 

Nothing will get back to anything resembling normal until most of us are protected.

It's a news outlet. They arent there to inform anyone. They are there to sell clicks. You're looking in the wrong place.

forget numbers, it depends of numbers of tests... keep vaccinating population. waves will come and go. best thing i heard recently from Thai PR is "learn to live with the COVID-19" cause it's not going away any time soon

Gone up by 11.5% reported and Tested cases. No fancy word to report that there are more new cases than reported recoveries. Maybe we are back on the upward grind again, ….. all those dark red zone tourists?

I wouldnt panic yet. The recoveries mimic the cases from two weeks ago.

Ok, so the number of reported cases has increased today but the number of tested cases continues to go down, as it has for the last week or so, what does that say about reports in Thailand  ? 555

Agreed. In the U.K. they announced  yesterday that 80% of adults had now received both jabs. This is with either Pfizer or AZ. 80% is a high number of people with two jabs and far higher than the 70% of one jab and then claiming herd immunity as some people do in Thailand. Even with 80% vaccinated and with a population the same as Thailand, yesterday there were over 35,000 cases (because they test around 400,000 a day) and 112 deaths.
 

Life is returning to a kind of normal in the U.K. However many kids who returned to school are now having to isolate due to Covid cases. People are still having to wear masks on public transport. People are still not shaking hands and looking to keep their distance. Many are still choosing to work from home and not go to the office. There is a massive backlog of hospital appointments. We are all a long way off life being normal I’m afraid and Thailand is running at least 6 months behind the U.K.

I won’t be panicking @Poolie  I only panic when something unexpected happens. Any semi-educated person knows exactly what is going on in Thailand and so it’s no surprise. Number could go up or down tomorrow. It’s totally meaningless when you are testing 50,000 a day and the vast majority in known high infection areas. Thailand Covid will play out like every other country in the world. There is no special “Thainess” or “Thai style” with Covid. This is where the Thais meet the reality that they are not special.

Absolutely.

Less than half the number of deaths of Thailand, but with everyone more or less enjoying freedom again.

That meanwhile everyone gets infected and the numbers go up is expected, but the important thing is that there are fewer hospital admissions and deaths.

Here they should stop every argument and focus on procuring effective vaccines and getting them in arms a.s.a.p.

not surprising it's back up after stores are re-opening, until vaccines roll out, covid cases probably wont go down, happened in toronto and only after vaccines were they able to control the cases

Or get an antibody test to see if you have natural immunity.

There have been no studies to determine the impact on natural immunity these new type of vaccines have so get jabbed at your own risk.

The consensus I see from professionals who are not benefiting from the sales of vaccines is that you should avoid vaccines as there is no compelling reason to take them in that case.

From the latest science natural immunity is around 13 times more effective.
