A Bangkok court has rejected a request to issue arrests warrants for 2 anti-government protesters. News of the activists’ potential arrest led to a planned rally being cancelled. However, the Bangkok South Municipal Court has decreed that as the charges in question carry a prison term of no more than 3 years, police must first issue a summons for the 2 activists. That is a decision that makes the thai justice system look as if they are becoming more independent of thai politicians .

But that proves again , that it was just a formality missing to enable them to issue the arrest warrants . Sad.

To face a 3 year sentence in thai prison for organizing an anti-government rally , has nothing to do with the right of freedom of speech .

But there is no such thing in Thailand anyway ...

People here have no right to the expression of their opinion in public .

If it is not going conform with the government .

Sad , but nobody here is free to say what they want ... there are laws against it .

New , unbiased and free and fair elections is what is needed here ... and a re-written constitution that grants the basic rights of freedom ( of expression ) to all individuals , or citizens at least .

But that , again , is not in the interest of the ruling 'elite ' .

There is a certain risk in this country that it might become a kind of totalitarian state one day . We've seen that happen recently in a few countries around the world .

It's like going back to the middle age ... but with the use of modern technologies to suppress and brainwash the general population .

Any and all resistance the courts, the institutions, and the people can put in the path of the super toxic, heinous, malicious, overly rich, self entitled, Ivory tower leaders, is a good thing for Thai society, and shows the possibility of forward movement. These regressive dinosaurs need to be resisted in any way possible, by all of us.

Agree with you. i am not a fan of those hooligans, but as long as they don't burn and blow up, they should be let to protest, whatever they want
