Sponsored As we learn to live with Covid, Thailand, and more specifically Phuket, stands poised to be the hub of the next global superyacht destination, that being Southeast Asia. And what better way to showcase this wondrous destination than the Thailand’s International Boat Show (TIBS), to be staged at the award-winning and SHA Plus+ certified Royal Phuket Marina (RPM) from January 6-9, 2022. The show is organized by “JAND Events” and is the only boat show confirmed for the region in 2022; it will also be the only show to take in Southeast Asia since January of 2020. Another playground for the Thai monarchy, government elites and the world's super rich . Meanwhile back in " po folks" territory (mainland Thailand) insufficient vaccinations, overcrowded hospitals ,high unemployment, business closures, mass protests daily, food shortages in provinces are the day to day events planned in the foreseeable future for the Thai people !

Wasn’t a naval visit meant to happen in July? Didn’t hear that it occurred, or was canceled. Can someone confirm that the Navy (unsure which country) did visit this super destination.

Remember reading something about an American navel visit to Phuket, never heard or read anything about it happening yet.

There was supposed to be a joint exercise with the US in August but I didn't hear anything about if it happened or not

do those super yachts in the photos come with trailers?

Some of them look like they would fit on a trailer! The boats shown in the photos are NOT Super Yachts, they are perfectly decent Day Cruisers, but that's all they are. It is generally accepted the term Super Yacht applies to professionally crewed vessels 100 foot (30M +) long or more. They typically cost £20/30 million (£1M per Meter) upwards to purchase new depending on spec. With average running costs of 10% of the new price yearly, you really do need to be super rich to indulge yourself in this hobby. Your average super yacht owner would not be seen dead in Thailand's 'entertainment' venues.

Another ploy for the super rich. I guess you can make money out of mooring fees. BOAT.....Bring Out Another Thousand :)

A weeks mooring in a prime location in Monaco during the F1 weekend costs £100,000 (if you can secure one, as they sell out quickly) it certainly is the reserve of billionaires, a couple of million in the bank doesn't cut it in these circles. A virtually new, large Mega Yacht can command a charter fee in excess of a million £'s a week
