Guitar Solos

OK we all know that the computerized soulless music of today is garbage.

And everyone knows the most 'iconic' guitar solos from the past but here are a few random ones I think are worth a listen.

Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing Live  - solo at around 8:20

The always obligatory but none-the-less epic...

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird - Live at Knebworth 1976 - starting about 6:50

and live from Oakland, CA 1977 - starting about 6:00

And I think Dickey Betts from the Allman Brothers Band was a way underrated guitarist.

Check out Blue Sky Live from Germany 1990 - solo starts at about 3:20

I just finished listening to side 2 of Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gold & Platinum LP. What a great vinyl, I wanted to post about the guitar solo, but you beat me to it🙂

Allen Collins. lost his mates in the plane crash, then, well the story is sad, linked.

This version of the Phil Lynnot and Gary Moore classic, Parisienne Walkways, to me is the best. You can hear Phil's Irish accent coming through in the vocals, and Gary's distinctive guitar sound of his 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard (ex Peter Green's of Fleetwood Mac), Marshall head and combination of Boss and a Marshall Gov'nor effects pedals to create his distinctive sound.

Absolute classic.

Not so much a solo, but an example of complete control. This was the final encore of Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's in 2007, where he performed a week's residency.

Dave Gilmore tried to play this, and he couldn't,  said it was impossible!.

What is it with guys and guitars? Is it bone density or something, how they push out so many amazing sounds? Love hearing female guitarists but the symbology between the pitch or flow is missing, One does stand out from others though.

Female master class of the Looper pedal from 2004, on KT Tunstall's  Later....With Jools Holland debut. If you ever get to watch the full programme, the picture of all the musicians faces after her set is a classic. Total respect. Who needs a band!

This by the way was a couple of years before Ed Sheeran was to pick up the technique, when he was only 15! And has used constantly to great effect.
