I just finished listening to side 2 of Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gold & Platinum LP. What a great vinyl, I wanted to post about the guitar solo, but you beat me to it🙂

Allen Collins. lost his mates in the plane crash, then, well the story is sad, linked.

Saw Skynrd at Lancaster Uni in around 77 there last Number was Freebird. I didn't realize at the time what a solo was but I've seen the best from Blackmore to fleetwood Mac for me no one has come close to Smashing the solo in Freebird some have tried but this playing is a one off and will not be copied and its played on a Gibson Marauder i believe.

I wonder if that song and the solo may have a connection to this song? Another Gibson player?🙂, good or wot?

Paul Kossoff.  The opening riff on Alright Now  from 1970 kossoff's solo is played on a Gibson Les Paul. There are no fancy effect pedals just plugged straight into his Amp.

Never released (officially at least) - Fleetwood Mac, All Over Again. Recorded at The Warehouse in New Orleans, just weeks before Peter Green quit playing and gave his guitars way.

The old days, when guitar players could play a physical guitar.🙃
