Today 28 March I was approaching the traffic lights adjacent to Lotus South Pattaya on my schooter . The traffic had stopped at the red lights and there was a bank of cars some 4 deep, stopped waiting but as I and a group of other Bikers and cars was approaching the rear of the stopped traffic the lights turned green , Not sure how many metres we all were from the now moving traffic. The car in front of me was accelarating and I was slowly approach it and I had to apply a little breaking . I must have been about 3 metres behind her and traveling now after breaking about 15-20 km/h when suddenly she slammed on the breaks . There was no reason why she did that as the all the other cars were moving away from her at speed .....as soon as I saw her red braking lights I braked hard but not quite enough and I put the smallest of dents in her rear bumper. Of course I  pulled along side her and and asked why she braked but all I got was Thai words. I told her to pull over . We spoke by way of google Translate but she did'nt really say anything. I called the police and she called her insurance . By now a shop owner who actually spoke good English had come to assist . It turns out that no matter what the situation If you collide with someone in the their rear the person behind is at fault . I demanded to know why for no reason she breaked very hard to a stop, but the Cop and the Insurance guy said it doesnt matter .... There was no justification for her breaking suddenly.  ........but thats the law in Thailand !!!

I told the Cop and the Insurance guy it was a clear scam which cost me 7000 ฿ . They were both complacent (complicit) .

It's also the law in France. If you run into the vehicle in front of you, you have lost control of your vehicle by law, regardless of the reason why the vehicle braked.

Your insurance should have covered it, assuming you are insured.

Same in the UK, it is pretty much automatically your fault.

After I installed front and rear cameras, the ghost that battered the front and rear bumpers moved on. Must be camera shy. The missus cannot explain how scrape marks mysteriously appear on the sides so maybe I’ll need to install a few more.

Yes I am Insured , Licensed and Test Certificate and everything is legal

Cool. The way you said it, it sounded as though you had paid 7,000 out of pocket, which should not be the case, your insurance should cover it directly.
