Charge the woman with manslaughter - jail for 10-15 years.  Not only did she kill the kids, she removed the sim card from the camera.  She thinks an apology and paying for funeral/s and a small amount of compensation will fix things.  That attitude must stop. There is only one way to make Thais realise the gravity of driving - and that is public punishment and being made an example.  Until they realise they will go to jail for reckless driving, there is no deterrent - IMO use this woman as an example.

As usual the belief that money in compensation is the solution. This woman needs locking up! Just as an aside what were a 13 year old and a 9 year old doing driving a motorcycle, I know it is common in Thailand for kids to ride motorcycles but maybe it should not be!

I hear you, but in Thailand most people are poor and they work (unlike in the west) - there is no unemployment benefits or unmarried mother's pension either here - which is a very good thing. So the only way they can get around is usually on a bike - the ute/car is usually being used for work.  They are legally allowed to - as long as it is a short distance and not on main roads. The woman was driving through a village and by the look of where the 4WD finished up, she was going too fast.  Lock her up and set an example.

I don't agree... a 13 year old is plenty old enough. You're unnecessarily conflating a grown-ups irresponsible driving here. A 13 year old motorbike driver in Thailand arguably is a better driver than most other adults in Thailand... especially overly presumptive, obtrusive foreigners. Your sense of correctness is misplaced in this comment.

I'll take any of the 13 year old motorbike driver's in my village and pit you against them in an driver's course... I would put good money on it they would score higher than you and especially any foreigner fresh off the boat.

Another childish comment.  You know nothing of me or my driving or riding background. You are just one more ignorant purveyor of silly, meaningless  comments.  I will just leave this pointless post with one fact.  Thailand is one of the most dangerous places for road deaths in the World and the predominate deaths are those of motorcycles/cycles/Song Tams and most of those are youngsters or so called 'experienced' older riders, most of them too unaware to wear helmets, or to use lights in the dark , or look behind them, or to stay sober/drug free.
