The boom is slowly becoming a bust. The turd is being polished up, but they will continue to decline in numbers.  There are far safer and far less corrupt places to visit in SEAsia now, that welcomes tourists and feels 'good'. Japan is cheaper than it has ever been - and it is safe and clean and organised - once they visit there then they aint coming back here. Likewise Korea and Hong Kong and Singapore are far better organised, and Vietnam is starting to finally attract tourists to its coastal beauty - and The Philippines is again getting back into the business of tourism with its magnificent beaches and islands that make Thailand pale into insignificance. Quite frankly, for a few hours more and a little more money - the best islands and beaches in the world are in Australia - very safe and organised, and very little corruption - and right now the $AUD is very low.
