This just screams of corruption!!!  If there is one, there are many more and they all should be investigated.  He is probably on the run for more than just the murder of a suspect.  Even though they are investigating him, there is one of 2 things that will happen.  Either nothing will happen and he will be promoted to a higher position or he will be found guilty and all the property he has will be sold off and the proceeds distributed to the higher ups.

You missed Option 3.

Killed in a gun fight resisting arrest, so unfortunately he wasn't able to give evidence against anyone else.

I recall some smuggled cars being crushed here a few years ago and reports on the scam.

 

The cars are smuggled in, "found", then sold at auction, all taxes paid, for a fraction of the value as a small but expensive key part is missing (usually an engine management system).

They're then fully legal and the buyer can sell them on after re-fitting the part he removed before for around ten times what he paid at auction - and he also gets back 45% of what he paid at auction as a "reward".

 

A nice earner, but still only pocket money for "Chief Joe".

You can look at most anyone in a certain type of position and don’t even have to double guess of how they became wealthy. And that includes everyone and everyone with out naming people like the watch toad boy.
