News Forum - Covid-19 controls ramped up at Thailand’s wet markets amid rise in infections

Recommended Posts

Thailand’s Health Department is ramping up screening measures and Covid-19 controls at wet markets across the country amid a rise in infections linked to the venues. Thai PBS World reports that 14,678 infections have been detected at 132 markets across 23 provinces between April 1 and August 10 this year. As a result, officials are using antigen test kits to conduct mass testing of traders and workers on a weekly basis. The number of entrances and exits at each market has also been reduced, while additional measures include daily disinfection, improvements in ventilation, and disinfecting shared contact points at markets. "A little too late" should be the motto of this toxic administration.

Not locking down the Samut seafood market area, within a 2km. radius, and and making sure nobody come in and out for 15 days, back in early December when they had 900 plus cases in one day, was a legendary mistake and amounted to gross malfeasance and likely blatant corruption. And it is likely it directly led to the 2nd wave, which might have l at least partially led to the mess we are in right now.

Not sealing off the border with Burma, with the use of the 550,000 soldiers who are supposed to protect the nation, (and likely do next to nothing daily) and allowing corrupt border officials to continue working their franchises, was another.

Announcing the closure of construction sites in Bangkok, a week in advance of closing them was as bone headed as it gets. It allowed super spreaders to travel freely all over the nation, resulting in an immediate surge of nationwide cases.

And the severe bungling of the vaccination program is absolutely unforgivable.

You want me to go on? This is not Covid. This is Pratin 19!

What about the road blacks that were promised? 88 of them, if I remember the top cop creep bragging. If anything or anyplace should have been locked down, it should have been all highways and roads leading OUT of Bangkok. DUH! You don't impose all these sadistic restrictions on the common man, and then avoid taking the simplest and most sensible precautions.

i hope there are not any wannabe Thai biowarfare labs to be checked.

Your spot on  about the events leading up to the spread!
Those wet markets and construction sites all around the country sure do need better mitigation standards !

I think some people can’t still grasp the idea of rules like social distancing or don’t care to follow them.

That being said ,ya have to take care of number one
