Spot on.

They will just keep talking about this promising investigation of all involved but will never actually pull their finger out of the money tub and have the guy responsible arrested and brought to justice.

What a load of crock shit .. 16 months to come up with an answer to what happened... I can give you an answer now ..  send me the names of any politician or police or army personell who had their name on any paperwork regarding the accident and there you will have the guilty persons ... No doubt there are people retiring in the next 16 months and they will get away scot free and spend the brown paper envelope money....that's if it's not spent already..a land of smiles some say... or should it be the land of graft

At this stage I think Thai authorities have two very obvious options. Either keep totally quiet about it and allow people to fade away and for the memories of all but the closest relatives involved to fade. Or do it properly and aggressively bring to justice all involved. Typical “Thai Style” they go for a 50/50 approach that pleases some and disappoints some. Meanwhile the rest of the world continues to see it for what it is. The result? A laughing stock and stasis….

For some peculiar reason my earlier post was removed so I will repeat  what I asked before, except this time I will state what has been reported in the newspapers  Just in case people are unaware of the facts. A fact by the way where one of my distant relatives died   !!

What has the tragic event's at  Hillsborough, UK where 97 people died due to a human crush  got to do with  with a Thai, reported to have been under the influence of a drug, that whilst driving his Ferrari down Sukhumvit road and hitting a policemen on his motorcycle causing his death, got to to do with this subject matter ?

So please keep on subject as it is about a Thai in Thailand, not 97 poor souls who lost their lives in the UK.

Well, firstly, on the subject of him being on drugs, to quote yourself in another thread, guilty before charged?

Secondly, the police involved retired to avoid any penalty. And succeeded.

Thirdly, I'm out of this discussion so there's no point in trying to draw me in.

Just a public face saver more like to prolong it until the statute of limitations apply so he may return and carry on where he left off unfortunately.

Corruption to the extreme, from bottom to top.  A total waste of taxpayers money into multiple investigation and trials.

Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit is not exactly what one would call a crusader for justice. For instance:

The current regulation forbids officials from accepting gifts worth more than Bt3,000, but Watcharapol said circumstances have changed since the regulation was adopted years ago. He said giving gifts is a good aspect of Thai culture and it’s common overseas to give and receive gifts at Christmas time. He said it would take some time to decide whether an amendment is needed. The NACC wants to consult relevant parties first.

Huh? Sorry to inform you, Prayuth. But when you run a nation built upon a foundation that only protects the elite, the super wealthy, those that are well connected, those in power, and a spectacularly corrupt army, and then you reach out to nations that observe the rules of law and order for help, you get ignored, scorned, and ridiculed. Nobody is listening to you these days, much less Interpol. You are NOT a serious man. 90% of Thailand knows this, and most of the world does too. 7 extremely toxic years has proven that time and time again.

This administration will go after the high ranking guys, nor the provincial authorities, and certainly not the army, or the police. They are all corrupt beyond imagination. And the level of corruption simply escalates, the further up the food chain you go. They police and army are not expected to be honest, and they are not expected to engage in law enforcement, traffic or public safety, on any level. It is an irrevocably broken and dysfunctional system. Any hyperbole to the contrary, is just a smoke screen, intended to deceive the most naive amongst us.

The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) is one of the most feeble and ineffective of all the tools Prayuth has used to deceive the people into believing that he is fighting corruption.

Who was the last high level authority, in the police, immigration, the army, or the active administration they arrested, charged, tried convicted, and sent to prison? Nobody. Zero. Nunca. Nada. Why? Because Prayuth has had a mandate from the beginning to do the very opposite. To protect the elite, the super wealthy who are guilty, those that are connected, and those who are in power. Just think Dark Tao. Just think Red Bull. The list goes on, and on, and on. Only the most naive amongst us believe he or ACT secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol or Pol Gen Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit are sincere about this.

The watches were just a tiny, tiny tip of the iceberg. And it was just a fool displaying the kind of ivory tower arrogance and ignorance that we see from the army goons. It is more likely overseas lakefront villas, billions upon billions of dollars, and untold luxury. We have no idea of the level of corruption that has gone on during the past 7 years, but if the power used to protect the rich and elite is any indication, it is mind boggling, and one can only hope and pray they are held to account in the Hague or elsewhere, at some point in the future.

Well let's see if a BBC report bothers people ! but it is not just us on the forum that are interested, it is a newsworthy item hence the fact that the BBC reports on it which suggests indeed that people other than Thais may be interested.
