This makes zero commercial sense.  More passengers, more revenue.  These people just cannot run an aviation related  business. Business is not a popularity contest.  You have a captive market at an  Capital airport, make use of it to improve profitability,  to fund reinvestment.

Spoken like the complete idiot that you continue to be... "free parking" is substantially successful CHEAP goodwill building and advertising... there is no downside to doing it.  Bah humbug!

Free parking for those who come to pick up/drop off passengers will be well perceived and improve the airport's image. Long-term vision and brand development over short-term profit… not something the Thais are usually known for and, IMO, a good thing.
