Sheep grazing in the field rarely concern themselves with more than the patch of grass in front of them. Being occasionally fleeced is the price they pay for being “left alone” without realizing that the fleecing is the only reason they are allowed to exist.

Totally inaccurate for most people in the world... it's the scum like you who think that they are owed something for standing in the field at all that are the scourge of civilization... criminals take and take some more they never contribute anything.

So what? Drunk and disorderly Thais are mostly sent home, foreigners get an overnight stay. 1 in 100 people detained in a Thai police cell are foreigners. I made that number up but it’s probably close enough. The changes considered aren’t solely for the entitled 1%. Why you insist that the punishment of deprivation of liberty must be compounded with inadequate care & protection is something I don’t care to understand.

Thailand has the highest rate of female incarceration in the world and ranks #6 in the world in prison population despite having only 70 million people.

They are all confined to a police holding cell at some point. The justice system has a duty of care for all people, victims and accused.

Not to mention the numerous held in detention for actions that are considered rights in a liberal democracy.

Yes they do... however to what extent?  Being arrested for a crime is not an invitation to go on a vacation... the rest of your narrative is just "fluff"

85% of female prisoners are incarcerated for drug offenses... still not a right in liberal democracies.

To the extent that someone will be in the same or better condition, not worse, than they entered custody in - physically and mentally. Human dignity and mental health are not in your world view so we won’t even go there. No-one is demanding Norwegian comfort levels of incarceration which incidentally has among the lowest related of recidivism in the world. Only safe, hygienic and secure conditions for both prisoners and custodians.

WAAA..... been kicking for 77 years... never locked up... wonder why... not everyone makes mistakes... the majority of people follow the law

Sure, and you are the center of the World and above anyone else. "Never locked up" does not mean that you never broke the law, I can guarantee you that you have broken the law somewhere at some point, most likely also laws that you did not know they existed (does not matter wether you know or not, the result is the same).

Now I will assume that you have been a driver all your life. Never ever you have driven at least 5 miles an hour above the lawful limit anywhere in the world? Well I will assume again that you have just once, surely you get that it is highly possible. Now imagine that you caused an accident and killed someone the only single time in your all life you drove above the limit (and I add another element: you forgot to indicate as well, an easy mistake to make.... a mistake, do you understand?). Of course, you end up in jail. How would you like to be treated? Like a human being so with the minimum of decency ? It is a rational argument so please if you wish to answer, do so rationally. That is all my post was saying: do not treat others the way you do not wish to be treated. It is the 21st century, we are not barbarians anymore. If the law decides to put you in jail to take your freedom away for your crime, that's your punishment. I do not even understand why this needs to be explained today.

It amazes me that these basics human rights still need to be explained in 2025. And then you have the same people who need to be explained that that complain the world is still such a bad place without understanding that the exact reasons why it is however a far much better place than back in obscur barbarian times are exactly the ones they do not wish to be applied to other human beings in 2025 (but to us, of course).

I never mentioned female prisoners, nor was my reference to drug offences. But seeing as how you brought it up, for the quantities they are serving time for, most them would most certainly NOT be behind bars in the west.

My reference was related to freedom of speech, the very thing you piss and moan about ‘the left’ denying you.
