I found Apple Air tags work well when a dog wanders off. Good peace of mind also.

As the Apple Air Tag doesn't work much past 100 feet, it's not much use in finding a wandering dog, unless the animal has only two legs and is as pissed as a newt.

True but…. Air tags use Bluetooth to connect to ANY Apple device within 100 feet so “technically” they will appear anywhere there is a nearby Apple device. Far from ideal but better than nothing.
