rattlesnake Posted December 26, 2024 #566701 Share Posted December 26, 2024 3/5. I lived in Phuket in 2011/2012. An establishment I occasionally frequented was called "Tsunami Massage", in Patong. It had a sign depicting a cartoonish guy running away from a giant wave. Thai humour and spirit… 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/39927-thaiger-talk-quiz-299-the-boxing-day-tsunami/#findComment-566701 Share on other sites

Thai humour and spirit… Expand I was there on a work stay in 2005 around March / April. Walking along Kata Beach, one wave came up a few meters further than the others, beach vendors scatter, howls of laughter, splashing and shrieks of “tsunami”. I thought it was a bit too soon for humor, but they would know better than me. 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/39927-thaiger-talk-quiz-299-the-boxing-day-tsunami/#findComment-566778 Share on other sites
Grumpish Posted December 27, 2024 #566781 Share Posted December 27, 2024 4/5 I probably would have been there at the time if I hadn't broken my leg in a motorcycle accident a couple of months before (a London cabbie u-turned in front of me while signaling that he was pulling over). 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/39927-thaiger-talk-quiz-299-the-boxing-day-tsunami/#findComment-566781 Share on other sites
NonThaiKiwi Posted December 27, 2024 #566804 Share Posted December 27, 2024 Just the 2 correct this time. Hard to believe 20 years has passed. With all the technology about, one can never predict or control the forces of mother nature. Earthquakes, volcanoes and fierce/strong/bad weather... So much power can be unleashed and there is bugger all us meer humans can do about it. It may make us stop and think for a while... meanwhile the earth keeps revolving as it always has, and probably always will unless some idiots decide to push their big red buttons. But nature is a bigger power and will continue to remind us on occasion. Some will take notice. Another good quiz Big H. Keep em coming! 2 1 Link to comment https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/39927-thaiger-talk-quiz-299-the-boxing-day-tsunami/#findComment-566804 Share on other sites
