7.7 Earthquake at 1:20 PM on March 28, 2025
Chinese construction company, government contract (State Audit Office), only a few typically Thai dots to connect and the picture is clear. And for this one building collapse, they shut down an entire city of 10+ million people? Why paralyze a major city for an event which happened 1100km away? Irrational panic can be as costly as reckless indifference. Have we learned nothing from Covid? Are we doomed to repeat this knee-jerk panic every time something unexpected (but inevitable) occurs? -

7.7 Earthquake at 1:20 PM on March 28, 2025
To a layman such as myself, it's incredible that the quake occured in Myanmar and then "travelled" so far down South before hitting Bangkok the way it did. -

Scam
Cool. The way you said it, it sounded as though you had paid 7,000 out of pocket, which should not be the case, your insurance should cover it directly. -

7.7 Earthquake at 1:20 PM on March 28, 2025
Was comparing experiences with some friends this morning and they confirmed what I thought had happened. The unusual factor that I have never experienced before was that we were literally tipped up, ie. I was in a large room on the second floor (which of course is normally perfectly horizontal) and the NW corner of the room was most definitely lower than the rest of the room for at least a few seconds. They were on the ground and experienced the same thing. It was an extremely bizarre feeling.- 1

News Forum - Toxic air terror: Nan goes into lockdown as smog chokes province
Agree. It would be unprecedented for a curfew to be enforced due to air quality issues. And it would also be stupid policy.
