Or I can buy fresh roasted coffee beans from the local beanery... grind them fresh everyday right at home... and enjoy an excellent mug (2 cups) of coffee... all for about 2 baht... as they say in Thailand - "up to you!"  Sorry... add the 8 baht worth of water to that... TOTAL 10 baht.

You are either getting your ground coffee at a huge discount or your maths is wrong. I’m paying 250 baht for 500 grams of ground coffee. Out of that 500 grams I get 33 cups. 1 double shot is 15mg. 250 divided by 33 is 7.5. So it works out to 7.5 baht per cup. I use tap water so no expense there.

Thai tap water is disgusting, why do you do that?

I’ve got a water filter so I run the water through the filter before putting it in the espresso machine. I’ve been making my own coffee for 10 years here and never been sick from the coffee water. And the taste of the coffee is comparable to a coffee you’d get from a reputable cafe.

The standard double shot, which is pretty much what you get served if you order an espresso, flat white, cappuccino, macchiato or latte from a cafe is 15 milligrams. The stuff you drink I suggest must taste like dish water.
